  Michael A. Wiley - Founder/Managing Member

Michael A. Wiley: Visionary Leader and Founder of Black Spear Funding

Michael A. Wiley founded BlackSpear Funding, which began as GlobalOne Financial in 2001. Following the 2008 economic crash, management decided to pivot by focusing more on small business finance. In 2020 a name change was implemented, and was inspired by BlackRock, Wiley rebranded the company as Black Spear Funding in 2023.

Achievements:

  • Developed the first commercial loan underwriting software in 2004, reducing borrower default ratios for banks and lending institutions to a low 0.25%, or 1% compared to the industry average of 25% default ratio for a majority of all small business loans.

Experience:

  • Over two decades in commercial loan finance as an underwriter, loan processor, and loan packaging specialist.
  • Specialized in construction loans, refinancing, small business loans, and minority and FBA small business loans,
  • Business plan development, marketing plans, and financial operational and strategic planning.
  • Improved small business success rates from 50% to 81% for businesses funded by his programs.

  • Worked closely with banks and the SBA as an independent small business contractor and SBLC consultant.

LaSalle Thompson joined BlackSpear Funding in 2017, bringing a unique blend of marketing expertise and an illustrious background in professional sports.

  • Former 15-year NBA professional, establishing a vast network among Pro-athletes and sports organizations across the NBA, NFL, and MLB.
  • Experienced in managing and promoting professional athletes for several sports teams.

  • Connected to several State and City politicians in the City of Sacramento California, to help promote small business initiatives on behalf of BSF in state government.
